Travel cover post Brexit for clients of Allianz.

A number of clients have asked us how Insurers will act with regard to EHIC’s post Brexit and are schools and colleges safe to allow children to travel over such a key date? In reply, It is not clear if the EHIC will be retained, although for many EU states and the UK it would be preferable to retain a reciprocal health agreement. We have asked Allianz, our main provider of travel insurance how they are preparing for no deal Brexit and/or retraction of EHIC – their reply below:

‘’With regards to Brexit with have not issued any formal communication.

Our travel policy cover for cancellation states – If a Journey during the Period of Insurance and Operative Time of Cover is unavoidably cancelled or curtailed or rearranged due to any cause outside the control of the insured. Our policy advises the insured may choose to consider using a European Health Insurance Cards but doesn’t state they are a requirement. We would treat Medex claims in Europe in the same way we treat claims outside of Europe. ‘’

There is no need, therefore, for any concern that cover will fail post Brexit day or during the transition period. Should you require further assistance please contact your usual account executive.
